I knew from my earliest days that I wanted to be an artist, and I've focused almost all of my
time and energy since developing and refining myself as a multi-faceted artist.
In 1991, I graduated from Collins' College in Tempe, earning an Associates Degree in Advertising
Design. During that time, I also developed the comic strip Monk's Meditative Comic, which
won 1st place in the Bay Guardian's Annual Cartoon Contest in 1995.
Since graduation, I've worked both fulltime and freelance as an art director, illustrator, cartoonist,
production artist, graphic designer, apparel designer, web designer, concert poster artist, album
cover designer, portraitist, and fine artist specializing in pop art and pop surrealism.
As an art director and designer, I believe strongly in using minimalism, simplicity and a logical,
natural hierarchy of elements to create ads that are impactful and easily scanned. I always try
to push the envelope of my clients' brands in order to create unusual, eye-catching and highly
successful designs that still retain the particular flavor of a brand while simultaneously
being fresh and invigorating for a client's identity.
As a painter, I attempt to marry real-world inspiration with fantastic dream imagery. At the same
time, I endeavor to find and represent beauty in all things, even things normally considered ugly
or strange.
I currently work as a web designer.
I also continue to pursue pop surrealism, portrait painting,
illustration, web and
graphic design, and art of all kinds for musicians and for charity promotion
in my free time.
I am of no relation to the Borders bookstore clan ... though I often wish I was.
